''I went several years in a row to some, trying to describe the phenomena I was taking part in. Not in the form of a reportage, but a situational study, concentrated both on the personal and on associations of traditions, symbols, gestures and habits. What is common to all the various typologies and personal histories one can find in pilgrimages is endurance, dedication, hope and serenity. From time to time I tested the authenticity of my presence there as a pilgrim, by partaking.''
